Open external URL

The action "Open external URL" allows users to open a website link related to the record they are currently viewing.

What is it?

The "Open external URL" action provides users with the ability to navigate to an external link associated with the current record they are viewing.

When you enable the action to the Record View, there is a menu of action buttons added to the bottom bar of the record view.

For the action of accessing an external URL, you will pre-define the link that they would access.

When the users tap on the action button, the browser on the device of users will open the pre-defined link.

From the Design tab, in the Tables section of the left sidebar, click on the Record view of any table.
Go to the Action section on the right sidebar, and click the + button.
Enter the name and icon for the action button, then click Configure...
Click + Then... and choose Open external URL.

To configure the destination URL for this action, in the URL field, configure the destination link.

For the pre-defined value, you can:

Power Fx: Generate the link based on a condition set with the PowerFX formula.
Custom: Enter a specific link as the destination.
Row Data: Choose a column which contains the link custom for each record.
User: Get the information of current users as the destination link.

Requiring a confirmation on the execution of the action can give users the chance to reconsider and avoid accidental taps.

You can also customize the confirmation message or use the default one.
