How does publishing an app work?

Once your app is created in AppAlloy, it is automatically published and ready for use.

However, each time you make changes to the app or its data, it’s important to click the Publish button to ensure that these updates are reflected for your users.

This step guarantees that your app remains up-to-date and consistent with the latest changes you’ve made.

Publish an app

To get the public link of your app,

  • click the Publish button on the top right corner of the App Editor.

  • click the Publish button in the dropdown menu to confirm the publishment.

In the publishing dropdown, you can also get a link to open your app for preview on your computer or for your app usage as PWA on the browser of your phone.

View app publishing site

With the link provided in the Publish dropdown, you can preview your app right away on your computer.

Install & use the app

In AppAlloy, there are two main channels for the installation of your app: on AppAlloy Air and as a Progressive Web App.

What is AppAlloy Air?

AppAlloy Air is a platform where team members can manage and use all apps within a team.

This is an ideal option for teams looking to keep their apps centralized and easily accessible within a shared environment.

What is Progressive Web App?

When click the Publish button, you will also receive a link that you can open in your mobile browser.

From there, you can add the app to your home screen, allowing you to use it just like any other app installed on your device.

This option offers flexibility, letting users access the app on their phones without needing to download it from an app store.

Configure app-sharing mode

By publishing your app with a sharing link of the Mobile Web app, you can also control the sharing mode of the link.

There are two options:

  • [team]'s users only: only the people added to your team can view and use the app.

  • anyone with the link: anyone who accesses the link can view and use it.

Invite users while publishing

While publishing your app, you also can invite new users to your app.

In the Invite your team member field, enter the email of new users, then click the Invite button within the placeholder of the field. Invite them one by one.

All users are invited to join with the role of Viewer. You can manage their roles later in the Users Dashboard.

From the preview site, you can try your app on the right, while seeing and get the QR code to scan and open it on your phone on the left.
