Introduction

The Donut Chart in AppAlloy is a variation of the Pie Chart that features a hole in the center, allowing for a more aesthetically pleasing and flexible visualization.

It effectively displays data as proportional segments of a whole while leaving space in the center for additional information or visual appeal.

This chart is particularly useful for showing data distribution and emphasizing the relative sizes of categories.

Suitable Use Cases:

  • Expense Distribution: Visualize how different expense categories contribute to the total budget, with the center space available for key insights or additional context.

  • Market Share: Display market share distribution among various products or companies, highlighting their relative contributions.

  • Survey Results: Present categorical survey results, showcasing the proportion of each response with room for annotations or highlights.

  • Project Allocation: Illustrate how resources or efforts are allocated across different projects or tasks, with space to include a project logo or summary in the center.

Title

The title provides a clear and concise label for the chart, helping users understand what data is being represented.

Caption

The caption offers additional context or explanatory text for the chart. It may include information about the data source or key insights from the chart.

Data

Define the source and specifics of the data used for the chart. For example, "from table 'Order List', show the number of orders by Segment."

Specify the data criteria to ensure the chart accurately reflects the desired information, making it relevant and precise. We also highly recommend to use the term of column headings for the prompt.

Style

Customize the appearance of the chart by selecting colors and deciding whether to display a legend as the explanation for each data part in the chart.

  • Color: Choose colors for the donut segments to differentiate between categories or to align with your branding.

  • Checkbox Legend: Decide whether to include a explanation below the chart that helps users identify what kind of data is shown on the chart

Segments

Configure the value labels on each segment of the donut chart to provide additional context.

  • Value Format: Choose how to format the values in each segment, such as Number, Currency, or Fraction.

  • Value Label Prefix: Add text before the value in the label, if necessary (e.g., "$" for currency).

  • Value Label Suffix: Add text after the value in the label, if necessary (e.g., "%" for percentages).

Visibility

Control the chart’s visibility based on specific conditions.

  • Yes: Hide the chart.

  • No: Show the chart.

  • Use PowerFX: Set conditions to dynamically show or hide the chart based on criteria or user inputs.
